Villain makeup might just be the sexiest, most sultry and alluring makeup trend to ever take over TikTok. Yes, strawberry girls are cute, noted, but sometimes the girlies want to bring a little edge and mystery into their beauty looks. Who doesn't want to channel their inner femme fatale every once in a while?

Think about it, some of our favourite antagonists have a sexy allure about them, an irresistibility that is hard to match and can overpower whatever affinity we may have for the main characters – be it the good girl or the good guy. No wonder TikTok girls are trying to emulate their looks. Think: Poison Ivy in Batman, Shego in Kim Possible, Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. One thing they all have in common – unwavering sex appeal.

Being sultry and seductive doesn't require a whole personality transplant either. You can achieve it simply by using a little bit of eye liner and popping on a red lippy. That's the core of it, but there is a bit more that goes into villain makeup, so let's get into it.

How to achieve villain makeup:

Step 1: Pow Pow Brow

Brows are a good place to start if you're using brow gels or pencils so you can sharpen the edges with a cotton bud and the foundation. The trick here is to make them straight up, sharp and pointy. Use a razor thin brow pencil to fill and gaps, and gel to set them down. “I imagine them being very pointy. So the brows need to be sharp enough cut the ‘throats of our enemies’…” says creator Mirter Miller in jest while talking through her villain makeup step-by-step. Alternatively, bleached brows will also give a similar edgy effect, but if you don't want to go the permanent route, simply cover them with foundation.

Step 2: Siren eyes that hypnotise

Siren eyes have had a moment of their own on TikTok and continue to do so. You know those eyes that look like they could enchant anyone. That's the vibe you need to go for involves deep charcoals or intense metallics with a cat flick that extends beyond your inner and outer eye. Alternatively for a more subtle take you can opt for an invisible floating liner. Either way, you're going for a fierce cat-eye effect with a winged liner so sharp it would give someone a paper cut just by looking at it.

Step 3: Flaw-full foundation nation

To really embrace that femme fatale look, you don't need perfect skin (what does that even mean), but you will need a foundation that will make for a great canvas to work with. “For the foundation I'm going for full coverage as you know, we have a long list of evil things to do today", and we want our makeup not to move.” Adds Mirta jokingly. Something matte for a stand-offish unapproachable look, something dewy for a more mysterious, “is she, isn't she” dangerous finish.

Step 4: Contour to the gawds

Villains always seems to have their faces snatched up. Either that or they look a little gaunt, probably from the stress of being bad 24/7. Mirte then adds: “Villains always have those sharp facial features, those hollow cheeks…” Either way, that means super dark contour with sweep and lifted placement. That is, hollows of the cheeks that get lifted up, forehead and jawline.

Step 5: Bloody blush

A deep red or plum blush will go a long way when tapping into your villain era. Almost as an ode to, or as tribute to all the blood sucking villains out there (we're looking at you Jennifer Check). Place the blush on the higher parts of your cheekbones, directly above the cheek contour and lift it for that flirtatious flush of colour. Whether you're using a cream or powder, build up the colour gradually until you reach optimum colour deposit.

Step 6: Red lips that roar

No villain look is really complete without a killer red lip. Go for a shade that is complimentary to your skin tone by considering undertones, but most importantly pick a shade that screams confidence. If the main attraction is the eye, don't be afraid to opt for a nude siren lip look instead which lifts the lips for a more sharp and sinister lip combo finish.

Step 7: Finesse the finish

Wrap up the look by setting your makeup with translucent powder and setting spray for a long-lasting finish. There is nothing worst than wearing your face on your clothes, and most true villains always got their ish- together… Want to take it up a notch? Go ham on the highlighter in the inner corner of the eyes and the cheek bones for that extra pop of allure.

Et voila, isn't she sexy?
