It's been a summer of milky white manicures, with practically every celeb under the sun stepping out with their nails painted some shade of pinky-white, but Selena Gomez knows how to keep us from burning out on the trend entirely: just add a touch of shimmer!

Gomez and her manicurist Tom Bachik put a twist on the milk bath manicure with a sweet and simple white set, elevating the look with just the subtlest touch of sparkle. Bachik shaped Gomez's nails into elegant medium-length squovals and made sure her cuticles were pristine, then used Mia Secret acrylic powder in White Peony for that icy, pure white base. This kind of product is best left to the pros, so if you like the vibe, Sally Hansen's Good. Kind. Pure Nail Color in Light Lychee would be a similar, budget-friendly pick.

Once the base colour was applied, Bachik added an iridescent shimmer powder on top for that blink-and-you'll-miss it hint of glimmer. Essie's Expressie FX Nail Polish in Iced Out, an iridescent topcoat, would do the trick here. And that's it! It's basically the easiest, prettiest way to upgrade a classic nail look in seconds.

The magic of this manicure is that it changes and transforms depending on the light; the shimmer catches and reflects light and sunshine, giving it a depth and dimension that feels fascinating, not flat. Bachik and Gomez have collaborated on similar looks before, including the whisper-light "angel nails" Bachik created using just a gel topcoat — Aprés Nail Heavenly Top Gelcoat in Cherub, to be exact — over Gomez's bare nails. If you're bored with the "your nails but better" trend but still want something versatile enough for everyday wear, Gomez's neutral-but-not "Sunday shimmer" nails may be just what you're looking for.
