Hailey Bieber revolutionised manicures in 2022 with her glazed-donut nails, a.k.a. nails in a single neutral color that glisten like a glazed donut from Krispy Kreme. Now she's taking her nails in a completely new, maximalist direction. And you don't have to worry in these trying times: Unlike Emma Stone, she is not following in Tom Sandoval's footsteps.
The model and Rhode Skin founder posted her hard pivot to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, June 4. Bieber shared images of her left and right hands, which were both freshly manicured to the max. Every nail was painted in a different colour and pattern, creating a unified look among the chaos. As always, the 26-year-old's nails are shaped in her signature almond tip.
The left hand is manicured with variations of red, pink, and yellow, but in all different patterns, while Bieber's right hand has a blend of every colour in the rainbow, from lime green to navy to red. Patterns include stripes, polka dots, single dots, and ombré effects. This is, essentially, the opposite of glazed-donut nails, and the mark of the end of the minimalist era and the beginning of a maximalist one.
Hailey Bieber is also known for a having a minimal wardrobe, opting for mostly neutral colours and simpler but elevated looks. But her colourful nails could also be indicative of a new era of style from the model. The nail artist responsible for the glazed-donut look is Zola Ganzorigt. Although she was not credited in Bieber's IG Stories, Ganzorigt has evidently been testing out bold colors on Bieber throughout the year, including colours like yellow, green, and blue.

“It was really last-minute decision to do glazed-donut nails at the [2022] Met Gala, surprisingly,” Ganzorigt told Glamour last year. “Hailey’s dress was a really pretty YSL satin white dress. We were originally talking about doing just translucent white colour, but I asked Hailey to try the chrome effect because it’d match her dress. That’s how we discovered the glazed-donut nail. One thing about Hailey, she always knows what she likes and wants, but at the same time always open to explore new things. If you ask any nail artist, that’s our ideal, dream client.”
