Hailey Bieber and one particular sweet treat have become so closely associated, I don’t even have to tell you what it is. In fact, she put a fruity twist on it and made it the flavour du jour of her popular Peptide Lip Treatment. “The new flavour is strawberry glaze,” she says of the new launch, which hits digital shelves on 28 August. But while it is a nod to the biggest trends Bieber has popularised — glazed donut skin and strawberry girl makeup — it’s also an attempt to revisit times gone by.

“As a kid, my favourite donuts [were] a strawberry frosted with sprinkles or a strawberry glazed. I also always loved strawberry shortcake bars,” she said in an interview with Allure. “The inspiration comes from childhood nostalgia, really.” It also felt like a given, she adds, after the release of her strawberry glaze smoothie with Erewhon last year.

It’s not a straight-up strawberry-flavoured lip mask — it’s got what Bieber calls a “pastry undertone.” And, thanks to a partnership with Krispy Kreme that had been on Hailey’s wish list for roughly a year, you can treat your tastebuds to the real thing; the franchise revived an old limited-edition strawberry glazed donut for the occasion.

Amid all this sugary talk, Hailey agreed to have answer some rapid-fire beauty questions.

Not to be creepy or anything, but what do you smell like right now?

Hailey Bieber: “I just put on the Osea Undaria Algae Body Oil. So nice. And then I sprayed Laura Mercier Vanille perfume, which I've worn since I was 17 or 18, on and off. I like to mix up my perfume sometimes. I wear a lot of Ex Nihilo perfume. So I smell like vanilla and then that body oil.”

How long does your entire skin-care routine take from start to finish?

“In the morning, probably about five minutes, not even. At night, my full ritual of double-cleansing and everything is probably a solid 15 minutes.”

What is your least favourite part of getting ready?

“Brushing my hair out after I get out of the shower. I cannot be bothered with that process, but I have to.”

What are three products that are always in your shower?

“I do rotate shower products quite often, but I have always been very loyal to Viviscal. They have a growth shampoo that has been in my shower for years. And I really like the Ouai body and scalp scrub. What I've also really been loving that has been in my shower — I just finished it and I need to get more — is the Inala rice water rinse. I sometimes try not to fully wash my hair and just give it a nice little rinse in the shower and let it sit for a couple minutes.”

What is your biggest beauty pet peeve?

“On myself, it would be patchy bronzer. It starts to sit on the skin, and I can't stand it.”

What is your biggest beauty extravagance?

"The most expensive things I ever buy in my beauty routine end up being either makeup or a really nice mask. I think I splurge more so on face masks than I do on anything else — or skin-care devices.

What is your favourite beauty product to pick up at a foreign drugstore?

“I love the Avène Cicalfate. I get it at drugstores in Europe.”

What is your favourite sunscreen?

“The EltaMD Tinted sunscreen. That's the GOAT, for sure.”

What's a beauty trend that you wish would make a comeback?

"Ooh, I don't know. It's so funny because you see people be like, 'We're bringing back the side part.' And I'm like, ‘Where did it go?’ I'm all for the side part coming back, clearly. I'm sitting here with a side part in my hair. I guess maybe that one. Let's really push forward the side part being back. Even though, from my perspective, it never went anywhere.

Baths: Love them or hate them?

Love.”

What’s the next food you want to paint on your fingertips?

“You know what I think I'm about to do, actually? I think I'm going to put little bugs on my nails. A little ladybug and an ant… I'm about to throw my best friend a camp-themed birthday and I want to do little bug nails for the camp.”
