If you're looking for autumn outfit ideas, we're pulled together some of the most exciting inspiration for this time of year. For stylists and influencers, autumn fashion is so damn inviting… if you love clothes, autumn dressing just gives you so many chances to wear more! Not to mention the joy of adding in a touch of luxurious cashmere knitwear and suede or this season's coolest ankle boots and knee-high boots to your new season looks.
Sometimes it can be tempting to stay in your summer dresses and just add a longline shacket or a hoodie to keep you warm… and that can work, unless there's an unforeseen rain shower or windy day blown into the mix.
While we want you to get the maximum wear from your garments outside of their intended season (it's the most sustainable way to dress) you might need to think a little harder about what constitutes the perfect autumn fashion fix. Actually, just scroll through our suggestions for your autumn dressing inspo - we've done the hard work for you…
As well as individual pieces that can help level up your looks (green trainers or leather bomber jackets) there are ideas for how to style your existing wardrobe (we have the intel on the colour combos and styling tricks you need to know about…)
Keep scrolling to see the autumn outfit ideas that will elevate your new season wardrobe to elite…

More is always more, so if there's a colour you've fallen for, like this season's rich chocolate bar brown, we recommend creating a whole outfit dedicated to the shade. Mix up different tones of brown within your look so the whole outfit will feel styled, rather than looking like monochromatic overkill.
For extra style points, mix in an array of fabrics, too. Loïcka Grâce gets the trend spot on with her combo of glossy leather trousers and matte-textured cropped blazer. We're drooling. Suede, long sleeve ribbed knits and woven wool outerwear will all add depth and interest when you're dressing tone-on-tone.

If in doubt, throw a trench coat over it. You'll finish off any casual outfits with polish if you have one of these chic cover-ups in your autumn wardrobe. If you want to look particularly on-trend for the new season, trench coats in beige and stone shades make a sharp contrast to an all-black outfit underneath. This is also a very clever shortcut for transitioning any black dresses to the new season. Here for it.

While your fave autumn knitwear works brilliantly as a layering piece (over a white t-shirt or turtleneck) we love the idea of slipping on a cardigan as the main event. Cardigans as tops are the sweet spot that will keep you cosy and cute. Find styles that stop around your waist so you can tuck them in - that will help them look elite rather than something you chucked on to ward off extra-chilly office air-con, and create more sleeker silhouettes.

So you've been living in your denim midi skirt all summer (us too) but there's no need to abandon it as the temperature drops. An oversized blazer in houndstooth or tweed will be the perfect addition as the temperature drops. We love this outfit combo with loafers and a spacious tote for office days. It would also work if you have a maxi skirt or sleeveless blazer already in your wardrobe…

Heavy fabrics like corduroy and tweed are obvious choices for autumn, along with darker colours like brown and grey. But some of the best new in fall outfits we've seen are bright, cheerful and come in lemon, lime and yes, Barbiecore pink. London Fashion Week is incoming and we're certain we'll see these revamped colour-pop tweeds on the street style set…

A leather jacket is a non-negotiable for autumn (and winter… and spring dressing…) and while blazers are our go-to for smarter days, there's something about the bomber jacket that has us hooked. More minimal than a biker jacket, the best bombers come in sleek leather - or faux leather. If you're bulking up in a oversized style like Hailey, try them with a mini skirt, tights and boots to balance the whole look to perfection.

The suited and booted workwear fabric is having a moment and we want anything (everything) pinstripe in our autumn dressing arsenal. Navy with a white stripe looks particularly sharp on updated co-ords - think wide leg trousers and a waistcoat - but you could also try teaming a pinstriped oversized blazer and straight leg jeans for the win.

Some of summer's boldest colour combos majored on hot pink teamed withe equally eye-popping emerald or quirky shades of lilac and tangerine combined. For autumn, dial down the contrast. You can still go for an unexpected colour combo - chocolate and dusky pink are unusual and seasonal - but in softer shades. Whether you're choosing a knit dress, mini dress or shirt dress, if you can find something in brown (Mango's midi dress is ideal) and mix in a pop of pale pink you'll look right for right now.

We've been noticing them everywhere… trainers that come in any colour but white. The trend kicked off, literally, with Grace Wales Bonner and Adidas's collab and now our eyes are accustomed to darker tone trainers. Black trainers definitely feel more appropriate for a season where the nights are getting longer but we've actually fallen for forest, sage or malachite green. Add a pair of green trainers to a denim jumpsuit or even your faithful skinny jeans for a fresh new season update.
