Sure, we've already seen Angelina Jolie go blonde for various film roles – but the actor caught us off guard in the middle of the year when she suddenly stepped out with ultra blonde hair with no sign of brunette in sight.
Angie's keeping us on our toes though, as she's since debuted a new hair colour which we're dubbing ‘shadow hair’ - the perfect solution for those who love brunette and blonde tones but can't pick between the two.
The ‘shadow hair’ trend combines both blonde and brown to give a natural overall effect, leaving the roots dark while her lower locks are a soft honey blonde shade. What looks like it's been naturally lightened by the sun is actually the hard work of a stylist to achieve this effortless balayage.
When we say shadow, we mean that the hair looks as though natural light is causing the roots and some strands to seem darker and some lighter and more sun-kissed. But what makes it work so well for dark and light hair alike?
Put simply, whether you're brunette or blonde you can make this look work, and that's the beauty of it.
If you're brunette you can work in blonde strands using the freehand technique, leaving your roots brunette - also a win for if you choose to grow it out. Likewise, if you're blonde you can have your stylist put in dark roots and add depth with a few dyed sections.
We're calling it, shadow hair is the perfect autumn hair colour trend.
